Shoutout to Donny, who I worked with closely over the course of the past year and I have to say, his workflow for audio mixing and how he is able to realize an artist's vision is absolutely unparalleled in this industry. We actually were able to do the majority of mixing together in real-time over the internet, using Zoom and professional software that allowed us to hear the tracks in perfect quality while he was performing edits. Why is this better than being in the studio with him? Because it meant we were able to hear everything on our home audio equipment, equipment we were more familiar with, which made locating problem areas in the mixes considerably easier. It meant way less commuting for us, which is also a big perk. It also eliminated the back-and-forth of email edits, which can get tiring and inflate the amount of versions it takes to dial in a song correctly. All this to say, Donny is ahead of the game in so many ways when it comes to audio engineering in the modern era.
